Food Storage Lite privacy policy

How Food Storage Lite handles your data: the app works entirely on your device by default, and nothing leaves it unless you buy premium and choose to sign in.

Last updated:

Food Storage Lite is a food storage and freezer inventory app published by timetoady. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and your choices. The short version: the app works entirely on your device by default, and nothing leaves it unless you buy the optional premium unlock and choose to sign in.

Data stored on your device only

By default — with no account and no purchase — everything the app saves stays in its local storage on your device. We cannot see any of it:

  • Your inventory items (name, category, amount, storage location, dates)
  • Photos you attach to items
  • Your custom categories and storage locations
  • Autocomplete history used to speed up adding items
  • App settings (theme, view mode, sort and filter choices)
  • Recently deleted items, until you permanently delete them
  • Your unlock/purchase status (a local record that the one-time unlock was purchased)

Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes all of it. You can also export a copy of your inventory to a file at any time, and import it back later — that file is written wherever you choose and is never sent to us.

Photos and camera

When you add a photo to an item, you choose the source: your camera or your photo library. The app uses Android’s system camera and photo picker, so it only ever receives the specific image you pick — it has no permission to browse your photo library or files on its own.

Photos are resized and stored locally with the item. They are only uploaded if you have premium and are signed in (see below).

Purchases

The one-time lifetime premium unlock is processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details, name, or address. Google’s handling of your purchase is covered by the Google Play Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy.

To confirm a purchase is genuine, the app sends the Google Play purchase token to our verification service (hosted on Supabase), which checks it against Google Play and records that your account or device is entitled to premium. Your proof of purchase is also remembered locally on your device so premium keeps working offline.

There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.

Optional cloud sync and household sharing

Cloud features are only available with premium, and only run if you choose to sign in. If you never sign in, the app makes no account or sync requests at all.

When you create an account and sign in, the following is handled by our backend (hosted on Supabase — auth, database, and file storage):

  • Your email address and password — used to create and sign in to your account. Passwords are handled by Supabase’s authentication service and are stored hashed; we never see your password.
  • Your inventory items and their photos — uploaded so they can sync across your devices and to anyone in your household.
  • Household data — a household name, its members and their roles, and the invite code used to join it.
  • Entitlement records — confirming your premium purchase is active.

Sharing works by invite code: you create a household and share its code with the people you want, or join theirs. Everyone in a household sees the same inventory. Only invite the people you intend to share your inventory with. There is no public sharing, no social feed, and no way for strangers to find your inventory.

Sync is last-write-wins: the most recent change to an item is the one that is kept.

Like any internet service, the server sees your IP address while handling a request; we never use it to identify you, though our hosting provider (Supabase) may retain it briefly in routine service logs.

Deleting your account

You can delete your cloud account from inside the app: Settings → Delete account, then type the confirmation phrase. You may also choose to wipe this device’s local inventory at the same time.

When deletion completes, your cloud account access is removed, your household membership is removed, and your entitlement and user records are removed from our active tables. If you own a household, that household and its shared cloud inventory and photos are deleted for everyone in it. Minimal transaction and audit records may be retained where legally required for compliance and fraud prevention.

Deleting your cloud account does not revoke your Google Play purchase — you can restore premium and sign in again later.

What we do NOT do

  • No ads, no ad networks, no advertising identifiers
  • No analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs
  • No selling or sharing of your data with third parties for advertising
  • No collection of contacts, call logs, messages, or precise location
  • No browsing of your photo library or files — only the images you explicitly pick
  • No account required to use the app, and no cloud requests at all until you sign in

Service providers

We use two third parties to run the app’s optional online features:

  • Google Play — app distribution and in-app purchase processing.
  • Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, and purchase verification for cloud sync and household sharing.

They process this data to provide the service on your behalf. They are not permitted to use it for their own advertising purposes.

Children

The app is a general-purpose household utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only personal information the app ever collects is the email address you provide if you choose to create a cloud account.

Data security

All network traffic uses HTTPS (encrypted in transit). On-device data is stored in the app’s private storage. Cloud data is protected by your account credentials and per-household access rules, so only you and the members of your household can read your inventory.

Changes

We will update this page when anything in this policy changes, and update the date at the top.
